For our course 1 final project in COETAIL, Carl, the art teacher, Daryl, the Japanese language teacher, and myself, the counselor, collaborated to create a unit on “Feelings: We Know What to Do!” for grade 4.
Here is the unit for your review. I would love to hear your thoughts and feedback. It’s my first time to share with outside viewers what I’m doing inside guidance class — or more accurately, a model of what I’ll be doing soon.
Process-wise, Carl and I had worked on this unit before, but never to this extent. Adding Japanese to the mix yielded further layers of richness and depth. Without any doubt, putting our collective heads together was much more powerful than going it alone.
“Gradual implementation” seems widely referenced as the way to proceed nowadays, so I’ll introduce this unit in one class this year, address glitches, then implement an updated version with all of grade 4 next year.
